The Kowsar is a twin-seat, twin-engine, training jet developed in Iran apparently on the basis of the F-5 twin-engine fighter aircraft. The Kowsar training jet was first unveiled by the Iranian Ministry of Defense in April 2017. The Kowsar was developed by the Islamic Republic of Iran under its domestic weapons program started in 1992 as a response to the United States arms embargo.
